Flat Roofing & Rubber Roofs (EPDM / TPO) in Reading, PA

Reading has thousands of flat and low-slope roofs — row homes, porches, additions and small commercial buildings — and most of them are repaired by people who don’t specialize in them. We do. EPDM rubber, TPO and roof coatings are one of DAG Roofs’ core specialties.

Flat roofs that don't pond, don't peel and don't leak

Flat roofs fail differently from shingle roofs: ponding water, open seams, failed flashing at walls and parapets, and old tar-and-gravel or rolled roofing that has simply worn out. The fix is a properly installed membrane with the right drainage — not another layer of tar.
DAG Roofs installs EPDM rubber roofing (the black membrane common on Berks County row homes and porches) and TPO (a white, reflective membrane that keeps buildings cooler). We also apply elastomeric roof coatings to extend the life of sound existing flat roofs, and we repair seams, flashing and punctures on all flat roof types.
We work on flat roofs in Reading, West Reading, Shillington, Wyomissing, Kenhorst, Mt. Penn, Laureldale and throughout Berks County — residential and commercial.

Signs your flat roof needs attention

Ponding water

Water that sits for more than 48 hours after rain is slowly destroying the membrane and finding its way in.

Open or bubbled seams

Seams that have lifted or bubbled are the most common entry point for water on a rubber roof.

Stains on the top-floor ceiling

On a row home, a leak usually shows up as a stain on the ceiling directly below.

Multiple layers of old roofing

Tar over tar over rolled roofing holds moisture and eventually has to come off.

Cracks at walls and parapets

Flashing where the roof meets a wall takes the most abuse and fails first.

A roof that bakes the building

A white TPO roof or reflective coating can noticeably cool a building in summer.
Why a family company

When the family that owns the company is on your roof, the work is different.

Big roofing outfits send a salesperson to your door and a different crew to your roof. At DAG Roofs you deal with the same people from the first phone call to the final walkthrough — the people whose name is on the truck.

Common questions

If you don’t see your question here, call us. You’ll get a real person, not a menu.

Both are excellent when installed properly. EPDM (rubber) is proven, flexible and cost-effective for residential flat roofs. TPO is white and reflective, which helps on commercial buildings and sun-exposed roofs. We’ll recommend the right one for your roof.

A properly installed EPDM roof lasts 20–30 years. TPO typically 20–25. Coatings can add 10+ years to a sound existing roof.

If the existing roof is dry, well-adhered and structurally sound, a coating is a great, lower-cost option. If it’s wet underneath or has multiple old layers, a coating would only hide the problem. The inspection will tell us which.

We repair them all the time — seams, flashing, punctures and ponding areas. Not every flat roof needs replacement.
