Skylight Installation & Replacement in Reading, PA & Berks County

A well-placed skylight changes a room. A badly installed one changes your ceiling — with a stain. DAG Roofs installs and replaces skylights with the flashing kits and care they need to bring in light without bringing in water.

Skylights installed by roofers, so they don't leak

Skylights have a reputation for leaking, and it’s usually deserved — not because of the skylight, but because of who installed it. A skylight is a hole in your roof, and the flashing around it has to be integrated with the shingles and underlayment exactly right. That’s roofing work, and it’s what we do.
DAG Roofs installs new skylights and sun tunnels, replaces old, fogged or leaking skylights (including the ones installed with the previous roof 20 years ago), and repairs the flashing and roofing around existing units. We install fixed and venting skylights from leading manufacturers, with their matching flashing kits.
We install and replace skylights across Reading, Wyomissing, Sinking Spring, Shillington, Exeter and all of Berks County.

When to replace or add a skylight

Staining around the skylight

Water marks on the drywall around the light shaft mean the flashing has failed.

Fogged or cloudy glass

Condensation between the panes means the seal is gone — the unit needs replacing.

You're replacing the roof

The right time to replace an aging skylight is while the shingles around it are off.

A dark room

Kitchens, bathrooms and hallways with no windows are transformed by a skylight or sun tunnel.

Energy efficiency

Modern low-E skylights let in light while keeping heat out in summer and in during winter.

You want ventilation

A venting skylight lets hot, humid air out of a bathroom or upstairs room.
Why a family company

When the family that owns the company is on your roof, the work is different.

Big roofing outfits send a salesperson to your door and a different crew to your roof. At DAG Roofs you deal with the same people from the first phone call to the final walkthrough — the people whose name is on the truck.
You talk to the people doing the work.
Clear, written estimates — what we found, what it needs, what it costs.

Common questions

If you don’t see your question here, call us. You’ll get a real person, not a menu.

A replacement skylight typically runs $1,200–$2,500 installed, depending on size and type. A new skylight in a roof with no existing opening costs more because of the framing and interior shaft. Free estimate after a look at the roof.

Not always. If the glass is clear and the unit is sound, re-flashing often solves it. If the glass is fogged or the frame is deteriorated, replacement is the better fix.

Older ones can. Modern skylights with low-E, argon-filled glass block most of the heat while letting the light through.

Yes — curb-mounted skylights are designed for flat and low-slope roofs and we flash them into EPDM or TPO membranes.
